Hot Wheels Garage Event at The Automobile Driving Museum

Every month (except July this year), on a Saturday, the Automobile Driving Museum in El Segundo hosts the Hot Wheels Garage Event, where life-sized Hot Wheels designed cars are on display. There are also interactive Hot Wheels racing track stations, face painting, and a balloon artist. It’s a fun day and a great way to check out the Automobile Driving Museum as well.

A few weeks ago, we checked out Hot Wheels Garage Event, and the Automobile Driving Museum for the first time. My kid loves cars, so she had a blast.

Here are some photo highlights from our visit:

Life-Sized Hot Wheels

The cars on display were roped off, so we couldn’t get up close and personal. However, they were still pretty cool to look at. The cars on display each month vary (according to the event staff), and so does the level of interaction.

Face Painting and Balloon Animals

I’m glad we arrived early, because there was already a long wait for the face painter and balloon artist. The event started at 10:00am, and we arrived around 10:30am. We waited about 15 minutes for face painting. The face painter (jollyfish.net) was skilled, and managed to put the unicorn my kid requested on her face, despite the small area to work with. The balloon artist made cool things like swords, flowers, and the like.

Hot Wheels Tracks Stations

There were about six different pop-up tents which had different Hot Wheels tracks. It was pretty fun for the kids, and cars flew everywhere. It was a very sunny day, so I recommend wearing sunscreen and a baseball cap. My other friend who got there later (around noon), didn’t get a chance to enjoy the tracks with her 3-year old because she said there were bigger kids surrounding the tracks, so there wasn’t a lot of space to squeeze in.

Free Hot Wheels Car

Everyone who gets their stations card (which they give when you enter) checked off completely (for visiting each station), can turn it in for a free Hot Wheels car. My kid picked the bobsled!

We absolutely loved the Automobile Driving Museum! It’s a big warehouse filled with cars. Almost every car on the floor is unlocked. Visitors are allowed to sit, smell, and touch the cars (with a docent present)!

It’s a fun place to take pictures and take a step back in time in some really cool cars.
