King Harbor Sea Fair 2015

Yesterday, my family and I went to the King Harbor Sea Fair near Redondo Beach. I found out about it through Red Tricycle (Los Angeles Edition), searching for a fun, free activity to do (that day). I’m so glad we went, because we had a great time!

We learned about the Los Angeles Maritime Institute’s Topsail Youth Program while touring the Irving Johnson, one of their ships. It’s a really cool non-profit organization that hosts a sailing education program to schools and youth groups. They’ve worked with a lot of LAUSD schools.

We also went on a free sailboat ride. Our captain was a 16-year old girl with eight years of sailing experience! It was a leisurely ride around the marina on a beautiful day.

We saw a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) yoga demonstration by Olympus SUP.

And enjoyed checking out the animals at the SEA Lab, which was the perfect amount of interaction (and attention) for my two-year old!

I’m glad I know about this event, because I will look forward to attending every year!
