STAR Eco Station’s Children’s Earth Day was a blast!

We had a great time at STAR Eco Station’s Children’s Earth Day on Sunday in Culver City. It was a full day (10am – 4pm) of fun and education. Over 30 schools participated, with performances by students on multiple stages. The kids in our group, ages 4, 7, and 10, were equally entertained. Here are a few of the things we liked best:

The Wolves of Project Wildsong

We met the sweet, gentle wolf Cael. He is a relative of the wolf actors in Game of Thrones. Project Wildsong‘s mission is to dispel the myths and misconceptions concerning wolves and native, North American wildlife. Project Wildsong can be scheduled for educational presentations, appearances, photography shoots, live models for art studios, as well as on-set film work. They also love to collaborate and customize unique events and programs.

Rides

The younger kids loved the rides. My daughter, age four, loved the slide the best. It looked pretty steep, but thankfully, wasn’t too slippery!

Meeting Celebrities

Westside Mommy contributor Shelby, age 10, interviewed celebrities at the event. She chatted with the following celebs about acting and working with animals:

My daughter, Aria, met Laya DeLeon Hayes, voice Doc McStuffins, a show she loves!

STAR Eco Station Tour

We learned so much during the STAR Eco Station tour. Our guide was informative and had a great sense of humor. The STAR Eco station is available for tours to the public, click here for hours and admission.

Butterfly Garden

We loved the butterfly garden at the event! It was really cool – in an enclosed tent was a table full of flowers (milkweed), which butterflies love. Butterflies flew down to the flowers and easily climbed on to nearby fingers. The last time we saw butterflies up close was The Butterfly Pavilion at the Natural History Museum, so it was quite a treat to experience it again.

Face Painting

Leila (Shelby’s friend) loved the face painting the best. Aria and Lucy got their faces painted too. It was a fun day for all!
