Club MomMe Fall Family Fest 2014
Today, my family and I drove to The South Coast Botanic Garden in Palos Verdes and attended Club MomMe Fall Family Fest 2014. I was invited to attend as a blogger. This was my second Club MomMe fest event; the first was the Club MomMe Spring Fest earlier this year. The entire event was outdoors, and thankfully, the weather was more than agreeable. Kristin Cruz (@KristinCruz), Doyin Richards (@daddydoinwork), and Veena Crownholm (@TiarastoBabies) hosted the media breakfast. Participating companies included Toyota, Lansinoh, Dr. Smith’s, Britax, Love Child Organics, Essentia, and Quinny Maxi Cosi. They gave us an overview of their upcoming social media efforts and/or new and newest products. Mendocino Farms and The Coffee Bean catered the breakfast.
I booked a complimentary hour of babysitting with Urban Sitter. Micaela, the general manager, helped me coordinate via e-mail, and I learned how easy it was to book online. Even when the booked babysitter had to cancel at last minute due to food poisoning (eek! – I received an e-mail the morning of) Michaela reassured me there would be a replacement sitter for my daughter. I’m so glad I was able to have someone watch her, because I really wanted to check out Glam Squad! I’m glad I arrived early, because I got a stylist right away to do my hair. Martin sprayed and styled my hair and got it to lay nicely (usually it’s sticking up everywhere), and parted my hair where the grey isn’t as noticeable. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to try them out again. You book a stylist online and they can come to you as quickly as two hours after you make your appointment!
After my hairstyle, it was time to pick my daughter up from UrbanSitter. She was in a good mood, but I could tell she was hungry because it was lunchtime. She also needed to be changed. This event is great because there are plenty of places to change a diaper or breastfeed your child. The Lansinoh Lactation Lounge was nearby, and was stocked with Bambo Nature eco-friendly diapers.
We grabbed lunch from the Mendocino Farms and Fresh Brothers Pizza food booths. Mendocino Farms had a spin the wheel contest, and my husband won a 2-for-1 coupon, good at any Mendocino Farms location from Nov. 9-16! We were very excited about that because we missed their “National Sandwich Day” 2-for-1 promotion last week. Club MomMe has the best food vendors! We also enjoyed juice from Pressed Juicery, and desserts (mini cupcakes!) from Sprinkles and Cupcake Fusion L.A.
Speaker panels were on a stage under a tent and included: Finding Balance, Best of Gear and Products, Moms Supporting Moms, and Easy Steps to Safeguarding Your Family From Everyday Environmental Hazards. It fun to see celebs such as Tamera Mowry-Housley and Lisa Ling as moms because they are around my age and I recall seeing them on t.v. (“Sister Sister” and “Channel One News,” respectively) when I was young. That really puts the word “grown-up” in perspective.
Overall, it was a really cool event. Despite the fact that my husband couldn’t watch his morning football game because the Daddy Lounge couldn’t get a signal on the televisions, it was a great way to spend the day.
We learned about new products and services, enjoyed favorite foods, had fun meeting other families and seeing friends (we saw our friends Melinda and Elizabeth) there.
I received a really awesome SWAG BAG, and can’t wait to run some giveaways in the next few weeks. (stay tuned!)
Thanks, ClubMomMe for another awesome family event! We enjoyed Club MomMe Fall Family Fest 2014!
