Event Recap: SoCal Moms Great Big Family Play Day 2018

WestsideMommy.com contributor Joanne Liu attended this event on behalf of Westside Mommy. Below is her experience at SoCal Moms Great Big Family Play Day, which took place Sunday, June 10th.

We had a great time at the 5th Annual SoCalMoms Great Big Family Play Day hosted at the Autry in the Griffith Park.  We were also invited to the City Moms App sponsored VIP private family lounge and were able to enjoy a day of pampering and fun.

VIP Lounge

The picnic area offered various refreshments and gave us an opportunity to try new products in the shade. My husband’s adventurous nature lead him to choose Nature’s Path Golden Tumeric Cereal with Califa Farms Almond milk for our kid – the kid ate it all up!  By the afternoon, we found our beverage of choice was Harmless Harvest Coconut Water.

Camp’d Out Tent was a beautifully designed kid’s area.  I loved the aesthetics and my kid loved the access to the percussion instruments available for play.

Main Stage:

Performances by Jazzy Ash and The Beat Buds started off our morning with great music and dancing fun. The Beat Buds performance was very highly interactive and we loved the munchkin mosh pit.

Carnival Activity Rides:

This area had a good mix of activities for younger kids. My kid saw the kiddie swings and wanted to go on it immediately.  He loved giving his dad high fives at every rotation.  The line became too long to wait for a second ride, so we decided to go on the kiddie slide next. Hopefully, he’ll be big enough to go on the big one!

Featured Events

Great Big Pump & Splash was as a real treat!  There were so many different types of pumps to keep all kids squealing with joy.

Great Big Storytime Circle from Books and Cookies created a great space for stories and rest.  My kid was treated to an epic reading by the story book lady surrounded by cushions, play mats, and toys.  He even stuck around afterwards, riding the rocking horse while enjoying a shower of bubbles from the Subaru tent across the way.

The Great Big Kids Sports Arena was extremely popular and was packed with older kids.  Luckily, we found a more intimate field provided by Super Soccer Stars nearby and our shorty was able to kick all the balls to his heart’s content.

Local Brands and Businesses:

What a Babe! Kids Studio’s and Zimmer Children’s Museum both captured my kid’s attention with their sensory stations.  He spent at least 20 minutes at each location and the we felt welcomed for the entire duration of our visit.  While the kid was playing, I was also able to pick up a free Child ID Cards New York Life in the next stall.

I loved the Sunscreen Station and the Hydration Station provided by Babyganics and Aguavida, respectively.  These are the two things I don’t leave the house without, but, had I left in a rush this morning, I’m grateful that these two bases would have been covered!

Thank you, CityMoms App, for extending the invitation!
