Featured Fit Mom for November

I love Baby Boot Camp because is it is a great place to socialize and meet other fitness-minded moms. I can’t believe it took me 11 months after my daughter was born to discover a class like this existed. There are moms and moms-to-be who attend class, and they are all inspirational. Just getting out the door with the baby is a feat in itself. To do so with the intention to workout is even more so. This month, meet Lindsay. She is currently pregnant with her second child and has been working out like a champ. She is Westside Mommy and Baby Boot Camp Los Angeles – Culver City and Marina Del Rey‘s Featured Fit Mom.

How old is your daughter and when is your second child due?

Sophie is 15 months and baby Two is due Dec 23rd so they’ll be 17m apart

When did you start exercising with Baby Boot Camp (Los Angeles – Culver City and Marina Del Rey)?

About a year ago when Sophie was about 3 months old

Have you always been into fitness? How has it changed since having kids – do you find yourself working out more or less than before?

I have but I struggle with motivation and can be a bit all/nothing about it.  Before having Sophie I would go through a super motivated phases of going to the gym several times a week and playing tennis and cycling to work.  Now I find my body doesn’t cope with a stop/start approach (maybe my age too?) plus I don’t have time to spend two hours at the gym each day so I’m learning to be more balanced about it.

Do you notice any positive differences in your pregnancy between days you workout and days you don’t?

Definitely, I actually have more energy when I work out and am less likely to reach for the sugary snacks to keep going.  When I work out I often find I eat healthier too.  Most important I think is the psychological boost it gives me.  After class I feel good about myself and the day ahead.

How do you find working out with Baby Boot Camp (Los Angeles – Culver City and Marina Del Rey) helpful to your pregnancy and what exercises (or modifications) do you like to do best?

I like the cardio best, I’m trying to keep running and jumping as long as possible / it feels good.  I think because I have always enjoyed cardio and circuits type classes it feels good to do this still while I’m pregnant.  It makes me feel like me again.  It’s great knowing that there’s no pressure to do the higher impact exercises, there are always modifications so I’m hoping I can keep on working out right up until baby.

What is your favourite thing about Baby Boot Camp (Los Angeles – Culver City and Marina Del Rey)

The people.  Melinda and Elizabeth are very friendly.  I had quite a few months when I stopped working out and when I came back to class I felt very welcomed.  We have a laugh and enjoy ourselves which is how exercise should be.

Meet Lindsay, Elizabeth, Melinda, and other amazing moms in class at Baby Boot Camp! Classes at Helms Bakery and Playa Vista.
