Fitness Friday: Keeping Exercise Interesting
It’s Fitness Friday! I have been so bad about keeping up with exercise. There is always something that seems to throw me off – vacation, sickness, and just plain tiredness. This week’s question is totally relatable to me. Melinda and Elizabeth of Baby Boot Camp Los Angeles (Culver City and Marina Del Rey) answer this week’s question:
Q. How can I stay consistent with exercising?
We all know physical activity is good for us, but here’s a reminder: exercise helps protect against heart disease, the leading cause of death of women in the United States. Exercise also helps prevent bone loss and type 2 diabetes. It improves your chances of living longer and healthier!
There are some things you can do to help make your exercise routine fun and consistent.
- Find something you like; whether it’s running, going to the gym, or group exercise
- Get an exercise buddy, or sign up for a group class with like-minded moms. It’s much more fun to exercise with a friend
- Set goals. Here’s an example: Beginning on July 5th, I am going to exercise 30 minutes, 3 times a week, and adhere to this schedule for 3 months
- Have fun!
