Fitness Friday! MOLO Week 5

This week was Week 5 of The Mother Love Fitness Challenge with Baby Boot Camp (MOLO)! Last week was Cardio Drills week. This week is “Single Leg Movements.” I really like how there is a different focus each week, and challenge each day. It keeps it interesting, and shows how small changes can make a big difference!

Week 5: Single Leg Movements

Sunday

MOLO assignment: Do a single-leg plank (stack your feet) for 30 seconds on each foot

I didn’t realize how important planking was for the core until I started taking class with Baby Boot Camp Los Angeles (Culver City and Marina Del Rey). If I knew ab-work wasn’t all about crunches and sit-ups, I would have started a long time ago! Planking is one of my favorite exercises, and I prefer it over sit-ups!

Monday

MOLO assignment: Remove all added sugars/sugar substitutes from your diet for the next 24 hours.

Baby Boot Camp Los Angeles (Culver City and Marina Del Rey) class this day was held indoors. After a cold weekend, I was so tempted to stay in, but I knew I had to work out! When I worked in an office (before baby), I didn’t realize how much sugar I consumed daily, in my coffee! My routine was coffee, creamer, and two sugars. I’m so glad I kicked that habit! Now I have my coffee with almond milk and sometimes black.

Tuesday

MOLO assignment: Before bed, do 2 minutes of deep breathing. Learn the benefits meditating for just two minutes/day

One of the things I learned to appreciate taking Baby Boot Camp Los Angeles (Culver City and Marina Del Rey) class is the warm-up and cool-down period of every workout. My post-workout pains have lessened immensely. Deep breathing combined with meditating, even for just two minutes is a great mind-clearer.

Wednesday

MOLO assignment: Take a picture of your dinner plate and post it on our MOLO FB page. Own it!

I wish I cooked a healthier meal this day, but I’ll own up to my meal.

Pork Ribs with BBQ sauce and a side of roasted potato, Brussels sprout, and bacon

Thursday

MOLO assignment: Before dinner, do 20 lunges per leg with a family member.

My daughter and I did lunges after dinner. Form is very important when lunging. Improper form can cause injuries. Elizabeth, on of the Baby Boot Camp Los Angeles (Culver City and Marina Del Rey) trainers, emphasizes proper form in class, telling us to make sure the knee does not extend over the foot.

Friday

MOLO assignment: If you’re craving your vice, drink 8 ounces of water and wait 15 minutes to see if you’re still hungry. We often snack unwisely when we’re dehydrated!

Water intake is a game-changer. This article circulated on Facebook, about a woman whose health and appearance improved after increasing her water intake! I started drinking more water when eating out, partly for health reasons, but mostly because drinks are expensive! I’d rather spend the extra $4 ($12-$14 for alcohol) on my meal than a drink!

Saturday

MOLO assignment: Remove one processed food item from your cart and replace it with a fruit or vegetable.

Tomorrow is Saturday, and I will keep this in mind when I do my grocery shopping!
