Free or Reduced Admission for LAUSD Students in the event of a Teacher’s Strike

I’m compiling this list as I receive notifications or learn of new posts through other sources. Please confirm rules and regulations with the corresponding web sites. 

Metro to provide free fares

Students who show their LAUSD identification card during strike days can attend their schools, study at local libraries or participate in various activities at up to 29 recreation centers throughout the city, among other undertakings. LAUSD students will be able to ride free from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. each strike day.

Free Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County (NHMLAC) and La Brea Tar Pits and Museum

Free onsite general admission to all LAUSD students and chaperones, weekdays Monday-Friday, 9:30 am to 5 pm. LAUSD students and chaperones will have access to grade appropriate self-guided activities and lesson plans.

Petersen Museum free admission with paying adult through January

In addition to free admission, children and teens will have the opportunity to experience supplemental educational programs designed to help them learn about the history and future of the automobile. Each day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.,STEAM-based tours and design projects, book readings andother activities will keep students engaged and provide opportunities for learning about the math, science and artistry behind cars.

Students under the age of 13 will not be admitted without an accompanying parent/guardian. Each paying adult may accompany up to four students. Students between 13 and 17 years old without a parent/guardian will need to present their LAUSD school IDs for complimentary admission. Free admission will not include access to The Vault.

The Los Angeles Zoo: Free Student Admission

 Free admission is offered to all currently enrolled LAUSD students grades K-12, along with a $5.00 fee for accompanying chaperones. Students merely need to show proof of enrollment by presenting a school ID card, report card, school newsletter or similar proof of enrollment. Complimentary admission will be offered Monday through Friday and only on days LAUSD schools are impacted due to the teachers’ strike. Tickets are available at the L.A. Zoo box office only. This limited-time discount is not available online.
