Kid Activity Highlights from the 2015 Kickin’ Cancer Event in Brentwood

Sunday, September 20th, 2015 was Lynne Cohen Foundation’s 14th Annual Kickin’ Cancer! 5K & Family Fun Day Expo in Brentwood, Los Angeles.

Kickin’ Cancer! is a fun-filled event attracting 2,500+ health and cause-minded women, families and businesses from West Los Angeles and beyond for a day of hope, inspiration, and action! With a 5K, Stroller Run, Kiddie Fun Run, and the Fit Family Expo, there was a little something for everyone.

Every step makes a difference for your own health, and for the women and families facing increased risk for breast and/or ovarian cancers. Every dollar raised funds prevention, early detection, education, and human care for those who need it most.

So far, they raised $167,767 (and counting)!

Westside Mommy was an event sponsor and had a booth at the Fit Family Expo, near the Kid’s Corner! We gave away 100 gift bags (sponsored by fantastic businesses) and held a raffle. We also had a Minions character, sponsored by Send in the Clowns. My friend Jonna (who also took some photos) was a tremendous help at my booth, and recruited her daughters and Master Quan of the brand new Tae Ryong Taekwando School in Brentwood to assist as well!

Big thanks to Katee Grace photography (a gift bag, event, and raffle sponsor) for capturing the event in her signature style.

Here’s what Shelby C, Jonna’s daughter, had to say about the Kid’s Corner:

I loved the Kickin Cancer 5k day! It made me feel good to help other people who are sick because my Grandpa Ray died from Cancer 🙁  The event was REALLY fun! They had a kids area where you could make your own sun hats with lots of stick-on jewels and sign up for a drawing contest where the winner will have their drawing on the Kickin’ Cancer kid’s shirt next year – so cool! There were many more fun things to do. There was even a kids 5k! There was also a Minion character from the Westside Mommy booth who danced and took pictures with you. It is really fun and I hope you decide to do it next year!
