MOLO Wellness Challenge Update: Week 4
Here are the challenges for week four of Baby Boot Camp’s MOLO Wellness Challenge, and how I fared:
Before lunch, hold a glute bridge for 30 seconds. Repeat 2x while focusing on deep breathing
Glute bridges are great. They are easy to do, but when you focus on deep breathing, it makes it even more intense. For me, this was something that is best done at night while the kid was asleep. Kind of hard to focus on deep breathing when hearing nursery rhymes in the background!
Do a good deed today, and introduce the concept to your family
I read a lot of great good deeds on the MOLO 2016 Facebook page. I haven’t done my good deed yet, but I plan on donating baby clothes and items to Harvest Home in Venice.
Before dinner, do one 30-second side plank on each side. Get the whole family to join in!
Once again, I did this exercise before bed. Planks are a great whole body exercise you can do just about anywhere. Planks help strengthen the core and build stability.
Skip all processed foods today (pre-packaged, boxed, and canned). Aim to eat 10 servings of fruits and vegetables
I’m not sure how many servings I ate, but I had a very big salad! I love spinach. I made a huge spinach salad with avocado, tomatoes, and mushrooms. I also made my own dressing with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, a squeeze of lemon, salt, pepper, and scallions.
Drink an extra glass of water today. Ensure you are drinking ½ your body weight in water on days you don’t work out, and more on days that you do
I have one of these water bottles. I love it because it has measurements on the side, which makes it easier to keep track. On days I work out, I can drink the entire bottle during my workout!
Do five oblique twists on each side every time you check Facebook today. Focus on deep breathing and engaging your core!
Usually when there is a challenge such as this, I estimate because I have a hard time keeping track. I estimate about 100 oblique twists.
We loved our technology detox last Sunday so much that we’ve decided to do it again this Sunday! Choose two hours today to put your phone away and focus on spending time with your family.
I put away my phone for two hours, but not at once.
