So far, so good. I’m on day 22 and I’m happy I’m still making progress. I’ve lost 1.5 inches in my waist. My goal is to lose 2 inches. I’m hoping I can achieve that in the next two weeks. I’m hoping I don’t plateau because I feel like I’m so close! Meals have gotten interesting lately, since I’ve done little planning ahead. Thinking positive has made a big change in my life. I haven’t had any anxiety attacks since I started my personal fitness challenge, which was one of my mental goals. Overall, I’m a happier, stronger person. Since I’ve been working out every day and seeing a lot of the same people in class, I’ve got to know a few of them better and we’ve made plans to hang outside of class, which is awesome!
Yesterday when I met my friend Nancy for coffee, she shared some breakfast cooking tips with me. One of them was to crush and cook down tomatoes to make a sauce. I did that, and ate it with an egg over-medium and some sweet potato hash. She was right, it was delicious and definitely changed the taste of “breakfast.” So yummy.
Today’s workout feature was doing two types of exercises in progression. Here is an example:
- 25 jump squats – 1 push-up
- 20 jump squats – 5 push-ups
- 15 jump squats – 10 push-ups
- 10 jump squats – 15 push-ups
- 5 jump squats – 20 push-ups
- 1 jump squat – 25 push-ups
We did several combos of that. It’s a good way to keep your mind in place and get an even workout. We also did several 3-minute wall sits, and I really felt the burn.
I love looking up at this tree when doing exercises on my back at Helms Bakery. It’s so beautiful and is very calming. That’s one of the great things about exercising outdoors. In a gym, the only thing to see is a television, a wall, or people. Working out with Baby Boot Camp (Los Angeles – Culver City and Marina Del Rey), we enjoy great views from Helms Bakery District and Concert Park at Playa Vista.
I wish I had a good photo from the playdate today, but they were all fuzzy because our kids are so mobile! Some friends from an informal mom group I belong to, meetup at Carlson Park every Friday for a playdate. I head out to Essential Chocolate Desserts for an iced coffee after Baby Boot Camp class, then drive to Carlson Park. If the moms I know aren’t there yet, I hang out with the wonderful Nanny Group which meets there every day. Anyone is welcome to join us!
Dinner was the leftover zucchini dish from last night, plus an open-faced sandwich, using Trader Joe’s Just Chicken, the Paleo ranch dressing/mayo I made a few days ago, an avocado, and red onions. Totally didn’t feel like cooking (or doing too many dishes) tonight.
