Rilakkuma Pop-Up Shop presented by JapanLA Summer 2018

This past Saturday, my daughter and I attended (as media guests) the grand opening party of the JapanLA Rilakuuma Pop-Up Shop in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles.

Who is Rilakkuma?

Rilakkuma is a character of the Tokyo-based stationery San-X company. Rilakkuma is a brown bear character, known for relaxing, taking it easy, and being well-loved by others. His friends include characters Korilakkuma (white bear cub), Kiiroitori (yellow bird), and Chairoikoguma (tiny brown bear that smells of honey and has fangs).

Rilakkuma Pop Up Shop/JapanLA Info

Located on 356 1/2 E. 2nd Street in Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo neighborhood, Rilakkuma is the first character in this new JapanLA Pop Up Space, which features the following:

  • New San-X products from Japan, featuring Rilakkuma, Sumikko Gurashi, Jinbesan, and more
  • Exclusive t-shirts, sweatshirts, pins, patches and stickers designed by JapanLA
  • Exclusive San-X Canvas Art Prints

For the Grand opening celebration, we took a picture with Rilakkuma

Received a free gift with purchase (pins), and received a Rilakkuma cookie (at the door for the first 100 guests)

And shopped

I bought a surprise mini item box for my daughter, which was part of the “cat” collection. I also bought a gift for my sister, which I won’t post yet because it’s a surprise for her. In addition, we got a gift bag with some great items you will find on my Instagram feed and stories.

The Pop-Up Shop is open from June 2nd – September 3rd, 2018!
