With my son’s obsessions for cars and Legos<\/strong><\/a>, I couldn\u2019t pass up the opportunity to attend the Lego McLaren 720s Build Day<\/strong><\/a> event at the Petersen Automotive Museum<\/strong><\/a>. My son was excited from the moment we entered the museum, where we took the elevator to the second floor where the life-sized Lego McLaren 720s<\/strong> was showcased.<\/p>\n

Design your own McLaren<\/h2>\n

One of the first things we did was design and print our own Lego Speed Champions McLaren<\/strong><\/a> using the interactive iPad app. It was really cool to see my son’s design printed on a sticker. He also received a little Lego figure of a car mechanic!<\/p>\n

Learning about McLaren<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

One of the highlights of the event was listening to McLaren<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s Head of Design Operations, Mark Robert<\/strong>. He presented a brief video of the history and design process of the vehicle. It made me want to jump in the car and take it for a ride – Lego or not! Another speaker during the panel discussion was Lego Master Builder, Chris Steininger<\/strong>. He discussed the whole process of building the McLaren 720s<\/strong><\/a> with Legos and revealed the approximate number of pieces used to create this car. Can you guess? They used more than 280,000 Lego pieces!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

After the panel discussion, it was time to build! All the kiddos and some adults joined in by grabbing some orange Lego<\/strong><\/a> pieces and added it to the grey area of the car. It surely was a fun experience for all the kids who participated!<\/p>\n

This Lego<\/strong><\/a> masterpiece will be displayed until August 19th at the Petersen Automotive Museum<\/strong><\/a>. Check it out before it’s gone!<\/p>\n

The Petersen Automotive Museum<\/h1>\n

The Petersen Automotive Museum Foundation<\/b>\u00a0is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity. The Museum is located at 6060 Wilshire Boulevard (at Fairfax) in Los Angeles, California, 90036. Admission prices are $16 for general admission adults, $13 for seniors and students with ID, $8 for children ages 3 to 12.
