Today, my family and I watched “Corteo” by Cirque Du Soleil<\/a><\/strong> at The Forum in Inglewood. It was the last day of the show in Los Angeles before it makes it’s next stop in Tucson, Arizona. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was the perfect way to celebrate my daughter’s birthday, as I wanted to introduce her to Cirque Du Soleil<\/a><\/strong>, shows which I’ve loved with a style all their own. I’ve seen several Cirque Du Soleil<\/a><\/strong> shows, but this was my first time watching “Corteo.” It was kid-friendly, but engaging for all ages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Description from the Cirque Du Soleil Website:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Corteo, which means \u201ccortege\u201d in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clown pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. Juxtaposing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each of us. The music, by turns lyrical and playful, carries Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of the acts were amazing, but my favorites were the large group acrobatic ones: Paradis<\/em>, Teeterboard<\/em>, and Tournik<\/em>. It was so cool to see the flips and near misses of these athletes, while maintaining poise and grace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My husband really liked the balancing act of Acrobatic Ladder<\/em>, the graceful acrobatics in Chandeliers<\/em>, and the strength and energetics of Cyr Wheel<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My daughter was in awe of all the acts, but really responded to the comedic ones, including the audience favorite: Helium Dance<\/em>, where tiny clown floats through the air suspended by giant balloons and bounced throughout, with audience participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I encourage you to check out one of the many Cirque Du Soleil<\/a><\/strong> Shows when you have a chance. They are all mesmerizing and enchanting in their own way. Check the descriptions and schedules on their website below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
