“Bumblebee”<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, my family and I were guests of The Petersen Automotive Museum to check out their new “Hollywood Dream Machines<\/a><\/strong>: <\/a>Vehicles of Science Fiction and Fantasy<\/a><\/strong>” Exhibit. As a kid, my sister and I were big fans of the 80s TV show, “Knight Rider”<\/strong>, so it was really cool to see “Kit” in-person. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All these interior buttons were “sooo-futuristic” back then! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We also loved watching old re-runs of Adam West’s TV show “Batman”<\/strong>. Here is the original 1966 Batcycle<\/strong> with sidecar. It is built from a Yamaha Catalina 250. The sidecar is powered by a 55cc, electric start, Yamaha three speed engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I didn’t watch “Speed Racer”<\/strong>, but this replica of Speed Racer’s Mach 5<\/strong> is a beauty. It is built on a 1980 Chevrolet Corvette giving it true sports car capability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"SpeedRacer\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

One of the cars you first see in the first floor showcase is the ever-popular DeLorean<\/strong> Time Machine from the “Back to the Future<\/strong>” trilogy. This iconic car is one of three built for the movie and is on loan from Universal Studios. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Delorean<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The car was restored for display, complete with sourced sound effects from the original digital sound\u00a0files created for the film. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Back<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

No science-fiction exhibit is complete without something from STAR WARS. Check out Luke Skywalker\u2019s real-life\u00a0X-34 Landspeeder<\/strong>! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve only seen one “Mad Max” movie, and that was “Mad Max: Fury Road”. I loved it and need to see the rest of the movies in the franchise. On display at the Hollywood Dream Machines<\/em> exhibit are the V8 Interceptor<\/strong>, also known as a\u00a0Pursuit Special <\/strong>(pictured below), and the massive Chevrolet 5 Window Coupe, completely modified with bare metal and skull design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think the Batmobile<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>from 1989’s Batman<\/strong><\/em> movie is still impressive. Parking that thing alone would be a feat in itself!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Modern<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Microsoft HoloLens experience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the things you definitely want to try out is the Microsoft HoloLens mixed reality experience called \u201cWorlds Reimagined.\u201d It’s located on the first floor and it’s best if you sign up for it at the beginning of your visit, as the wait can be long. It’s worth it because it’s pretty cool and gives you more “in-depth” information about the Warthog from \u201cHalo\u201d and the \u201cBack to the Future\u201d time machine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether you a huge fan of cars, science fiction movies, or both, this is definitely an exhibit to experience. \u201cHollywood Dream Machines\u201d will run through March 15, 2020<\/strong>, so definitely put it in your calendar as a must-do item!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Petersen Automotive Museum<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Petersen Automotive Museum Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity. The Museum is located at 6060 Wilshire Boulevard (at Fairfax) in Los Angeles, California, 90036. Admission prices are $16 for general admission adults, $14 for seniors, $11 for children ages 4 to 17. Active military with ID, personal care attendants and children under four are admitted free. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
