This Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m going to have a full house in my apartment this week, with people of varying ages staying over. Most of them are here for a friend&#8217;s wedding, but that doesn&#8217;t take place until next weekend. Summer is a popular time for visitors, as I learned a few other friends have out-of-town guests this week as well. When you live in L.A., it&#8217;s to be expected because right now it&#8217;s hot as heck everywhere else. The good thing about guests staying over is I don&#8217;t have to think about what to make for dinner because there are more than enough fantastic restaurants and places to eat.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few places we plan on\u00a0hitting for food:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.800degreespizza.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">800 Degrees Pizza<\/a>: My favorite pizza joint, and there is one right down the street from where I live! I\u00a0<em>do love\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/pizzeriamozza.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pizzaria Mozza<\/a> too, but 800 Degrees Pizza is more affordable<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.umami.com\/umami-burger\/\" target=\"_blank\">Umami Burger<\/a>: Yes, I know they are also the owners of 800 Degrees Pizza, but what can I say? They know what they&#8217;re doing!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.baycitiesitaliandeli.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bay Cities Italian Deli<\/a>: One location, one word &#8211; (ok, technically two) <i>The Godmother<\/i>. &#8216;Nuff said.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/kanpachi-gardena\" target=\"_blank\">Kanpachi<\/a>: Yes, I drive all the way to Gardena for sushi. Their\u00a0<em>omakase<\/em> is reasonably priced, delicious, and the owners are super friendly.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.portosbakery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Portos<\/a>: Potato balls and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spanishdict.com\/translate\/postre\" target=\"_blank\"><i>postres<\/i><\/a>. Mmmm.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mendocinofarms.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mendocino Farms<\/a>: I feel so lucky all their locations are in California<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/handymarketburbank.com\/handys-famous-bbq\/\" target=\"_blank\">Burbank&#8217;s Handy Market<\/a>: Because their BBQ is that good<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.in-n-out.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">In-n-Out<\/a>: a California staple<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/saffron-and-rose-ice-cream-los-angeles\" target=\"_blank\">Saffron &amp; Rose Ice Cream<\/a>: The best Persian Ice cream<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scoopswestside.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Scoops Ice Cream<\/a>: Unique flavors that are a must-try for out-of-towners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Things we (or they) will do:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.universalstudioshollywood.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Universal Studios<\/a>: It will be my daughter&#8217;s first visit to a theme park! Children under 3 are free!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverlosangeles.com\/blog\/eight-great-beaches-los-angeles\" target=\"_blank\">The Beach<\/a>: Not sure which one we will go to yet<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/teamcoco.com\/tickets\" target=\"_blank\">The Conan O&#8217;Brien Show<\/a>: They are big Conan fans, and got their tickets already. I&#8217;m going to drive them all the way to Burbank and hang out with some friends and their kids while I wait for the taping to end<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lacma.org\/programs\/music\/jazz-at-lacma\" target=\"_blank\">Jazz at LACMA<\/a>: We are going to see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lacma.org\/event\/sara-gazarek-0\" target=\"_blank\">Sara Gazarek<\/a>\u00a0on Friday June 27. I&#8217;m excited. I&#8217;ve never been to a Jazz Friday event there.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/centerstagegallery.com\/event\/opening-weekend-3000-sketches\/\" target=\"_blank\">3000 Moments: Pascal Campion<\/a>: My sister loves this artist, and he is having a show this weekend.
