One of the things I really miss doing is watching a movie in a theatre. \u00a0Most parents with a child under 6 months old can tell you the last movie they saw in a theatre before the baby arrived. \u00a0Mine was The Amazing Spiderman<\/i>. \u00a0Oh what a memory. \u00a0It may not necessarily have been a good movie, but that movie will bring back good memories of “the days of freedom.”<\/p>\n

I knew that during the Christmas holidays my parents would watch the baby so I had to make sure I chose a good one. \u00a0I was sold on\u00a0American\u00a0<\/em>Hustle\u00a0<\/em>after hearing David Edelstein’s review on NPR’s Fresh Air<\/a>. \u00a0I have seen and really liked other movies David O’Russell directed,\u00a0Three Kings,\u00a0<\/em>I Heart Huckabees<\/em>,\u00a0and\u00a0The Fighter\u00a0<\/em>– mostly for the interesting characters’ mix of grit and charm.<\/p>\n

American Hustle<\/em>\u00a0has an all-star cast of really versatile actors. \u00a0It’s no surprise they are all Oscar nominees. \u00a0Christian Bale<\/a> tops the list with a transformation<\/a> into \u00a0a combed-over, pot bellied, yet strangely sexy con man. \u00a0He is so convincing in this role I had to stop a few times to remind myself it was him. \u00a0I first saw Amy Adams<\/a> in Julie and Julia<\/a><\/em>. \u00a0Since then, she has slowly grown on me and after her stellar performance in\u00a0American Hustle<\/em>, I can say I’m a fan. \u00a0Bradley Cooper<\/a>\u00a0does an excellent job of portraying a character which you can love, hate, and feel a little sorry for because you might be able to relate. \u00a0Jennifer Lawrence<\/a>\u00a0brings some comic relief to the movie. \u00a0She really commands the screen, you forget she is only 23 years old. \u00a0Although he is not a nominee,\u00a0Jeremy Renner<\/a>‘s portrayal and accent of a New Jersey mayor does not skip a beat.<\/p>\n

American Hustle<\/em> is 138 minutes of drama, intensity, comedy, fashion, and music<\/a>. \u00a0It so well written and acted, that at no time during the movie did I feel the need to check the time. \u00a0I walked away strutting to “Don’t Leave Me This Way<\/a>” playing in my head, thinking about Bradley Cooper’s tight curls<\/a>, and wondering if 70’s cleavage<\/a> is going to make a comeback.<\/p>\n
