I&#8217;m not a fast reader, and because I&#8217;m taking care of my baby most of the day, the little time I have to read (at night) makes me an even slower reader. \u00a0The books I&#8217;m reading\u00a0right now are about parenting. I will write a full review in a separate post (when I have the time, and) if I recommend the book. Here are the books and why I chose them.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0891099441\/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0891099441&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=westmomm-20\">A Mother&#8217;s Heart: A Look at Values, Vision, and Character for the Christian Mother (Pilgrimage Growth Guide)<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>I&#8217;m currently on page 115 of this just under 200 page book. \u00a0I found out about it last summer when we were traveling with our then-3.5 month old baby, visiting my husband&#8217;s friend&#8217;s family in Nashville. \u00a0They have a well-behaved, kind, and thoughtful daughter (who was around 3 years old then). \u00a0During our too-short but wonderful visit, I glimpsed into their world. \u00a0They are not only awesome parents, but are also kind, thoughtful, and genuine people. \u00a0I learned it&#8217;s not just a style or technique of parenting, but leading by example. \u00a0The mom assured me she was not always this way. \u00a0She had to learn and\u00a0understand her role as a Christian mother, and understand that God chose her to be her child&#8217;s mother. \u00a0As a Christian who could really revisit the faith, this book is something that&#8217;s really helping me understand just that. \u00a0There are exercises and questions at the end of each chapter. \u00a0I cracked open our bible for the first time the other day in a very long time. \u00a0I have a long way to go, but I feel good knowing I&#8217;ve taken a step.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1118158792\/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=1118158792&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=westmomm-20\">Your Self-Confident Baby: How to Encourage Your Child&#8217;s Natural Abilities &#8212; From the Very Start<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=westmomm-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=1118158792\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/><\/h3>\n<h4>and<\/h4>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1892560062\/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=1892560062&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=westmomm-20\">Dear Parent: Caring for Infants With Respect (2nd Edition)<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/e\/ir?t=westmomm-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=1892560062\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/><\/h3>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t started either one of these books yet. \u00a0They are both by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Magda_Gerber\" target=\"_blank\">Magda Gerber<\/a>, who founded the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rie.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">RIE Center<\/a> in Los Angeles. \u00a0I did a Google search last week for &#8220;parenting styles&#8221; and\u00a0Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE\u00ae) was the first thing that showed up. \u00a0The very next day I read an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/society\/2014\/02\/rie-parenting-trend-hollywood\" target=\"_blank\">article about RIE in Vanity Fair<\/a>\u00a0which seemed unbelievable and amazing at the same time. \u00a0Not ready to dive in and pay the $30 for orientation night at the RIE Center on Melrose, I opted to put holds on the books at my local <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lapl.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Public Library<\/a> branch. \u00a0MAYBE if I feel aligned with the teachings I&#8217;ll move forward, but for now, this will have to do. \u00a0Can&#8217;t wait to read these!<\/p>\n<p>More to come!<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have a habit of reading several books at once.
