On Saturday, March 19,\u00a0my family and I attended International Printing Museum<\/a><\/strong>‘s Kids Krazy Krafts Day<\/a><\/em> in Carson. There were demonstrations\u00a0throughout the museum\u00a0for kids of all ages and sizes! We saw how printing machines work, and enjoyed making crafts.\u00a0<\/span>We stayed busy and were thoroughly entertained during\u00a0the two hours of our visit.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The first thing we saw\u00a0was a Linotype Machine in action. I\u00a0asked for a slug with the name of my daughter as a souvenir, which she plans to use at school to print her name on her homework. The slug is made of metal and\u00a0is a line of text that was used to print newspapers, magazines and posters. After that, we saw\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span>Ludlow Typograph and got a slug from that machine too.<\/span><\/p>\n

We used their antique presses to print postcards and used our new\u00a0slugs to print a copy of a page from\u00a0the Gutenberg Bible, and printed a copy of Mark Twain’s Tom Sawyer and the Whitewashing of the Fence<\/a><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

When my son got hungry, my husband took him to eat Papa John’s Pizza, which was available on-site for purchase. While they ate, my thirteen-year old and I went to use the printing machines. After eating, he joined us again.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We saw a Cartoonist in action and learned how to make\u00a0Origami figures.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both my kids enjoyed folding and binding books. They even printed an animal on the cover!<\/span><\/p>\n

My three-year old really enjoyed using the Rubber Stamps. He made a postcard and colored it for his grandparents.\u00a0 A<\/span>fter that, we saw a Calligraphy demonstration, screen printing, and paper making.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was a really fun experience that all the family enjoyed. We all found something interesting to do and learned new things.<\/span><\/p>\n

When we went to the museum one of the most interesting things we saw were the old printing machines. We interacted with them and make art. There was one machine that made Linotype Slugs and it could put whatever words we wanted, so I asked for my name. Another fun thing is that did was\u00a0arts and crafts. I enjoyed Origami, Calligraphy, Printing, Bookbinding, and other crafts. Overall it was a very fun experience. I would love to return.<\/span><\/p>\n
