<\/h3>\n<\/h3>\nLast June, I\u00a0interviewed author M. Tara Crowl and hosted a giveaway<\/a> for her book\u00a0Eden’s Wish<\/a><\/em><\/strong>. <\/em>I welcome her\u00a0back to chat about her second book, Eden’s Escape<\/em><\/a><\/strong>. Eden’s Escape<\/em><\/a> is about of Eden’s adventures outside the lamp in New York and Paris, France. In this modern-day fairy tale, the protagonist, Eden, experiences\u00a0adventures\u00a0outside the lamp no human could\u00a0ever imagine.<\/p>\n Publisher:<\/strong> Disney Hyperion Eden\u2019s Escape<\/i><\/a> continues Eden\u2019s adventures on Earth, so it would be helpful for the reader to be familiar with the characters and events in\u00a0Eden\u2019s Wish<\/i><\/a>. But I also think you could dive in and enjoy it on its own! <\/span><\/p>\n Last year when Eden\u2019s Wish<\/i><\/a> was released, I was just finishing Eden’s Escape<\/i><\/a>. I turned in the first draft to the publisher a week after the release, then I did some revisions with my editor. The final version was done in February.<\/span><\/p>\n Yes! Right before Eden\u2019s Wish<\/i><\/a> sold, I went to Europe by myself for a little bit of adventure and soul-searching. While I was there, I fell in love with Paris. I was completely enchanted by its beauty, history, and effortless style. I made up my mind that if the book sold, I was going to write a sequel and set it there. At the time, it felt like such a daydream. But when I got back to New York from my trip, I found out that\u00a0Eden\u2019s Wish<\/i><\/a> had sold to Disney-Hyperion<\/strong><\/a>, and I was going to be able to write a second book in the series! So the next year, I went back to Paris for three weeks to write Eden’s Escape<\/i><\/a>. I think it\u2019s such a magical city, and it holds a very special place in my heart.<\/span><\/p>\n Thank you! I rarely base them on someone intentionally. In Eden\u2019s Escape<\/i>, there is an exception: Pepper, the alum who is assigned to be Eden\u2019s guardian on Earth, is inspired by a friend of mine. Like Pepper, my friend is an actress who has starred in several shows on Broadway. But for the most part, I think the characters are probably influenced by many different people I\u2019ve met and observed. Of course, the characters inevitably develop into their own selves while I\u2019m writing.<\/span><\/p>\n This is fun to think about, but also really tough! For Eden, I have no idea! I think she might have to be someone new\u2014a young unknown. Same for Sasha and Tyler. <\/span><\/p>\n Pierce Brosnan<\/strong><\/a> would make a great Xavier\u2014or maybe Hugh Jackman<\/strong><\/a>. For Goldie, I\u2019d love to see Meryl Streep<\/strong><\/a>\u2014may as well think big if it\u2019s a dream cast, right? Connie Britton<\/strong><\/a> could also be wonderful. <\/span><\/p>\n I think Margot Robbie<\/strong><\/a> would be perfect as Sylvana\u2014or I\u2019d love to see Blake Lively<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n For some of the other genie alumni, let\u2019s say Minka Kelly<\/strong><\/a> for Violet, Cara Delevigne<\/strong><\/a> for Heloise, and Anna Kendrick<\/strong><\/a> for Pepper!<\/span><\/p>\n For now, there is not a third Eden<\/i><\/strong> book in the works, but I\u2019m hoping there will be someday! In the meantime, I\u2019m working on something new that\u2019s completely different from the Eden <\/i><\/strong>series. It\u2019s challenging, but I\u2019m really excited about it, and am having the best time writing it!<\/span><\/p>\n (Eden of the Lamp #2) Ages 9-12<\/span><\/p>\n Eden’s new life on earth begins in New York City under the guidance of her new guardian: Pepper, a petite, bubbly genie alum who’s also a Broadway actress.
