Today, we went to Alpine Village<\/strong><\/a>‘s Oktoberfest<\/strong><\/a> Family Sunday with friends. It was our first visit to Alpine Village<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and<\/em> the Oktoberfest<\/strong><\/a> event.\u00a0Alpine Village<\/strong><\/a>, located in Torrance, is a 30 minute drive from West L.A. There is Alpine Steinhaus<\/strong><\/a>, a restaurant with entertainment and a bar; and\u00a0Alpine Market<\/strong><\/a>, a market with German and European goods including beer and liquor,\u00a0a bakery and butcher shop, and a cafe and deli. Small shops, services, a playground, and a very small chapel round out the village. Oktoberfest<\/strong><\/a> takes place in the large tent in the parking lot. This large tent houses a rotation of seasonal events, all found on the website<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Drink Beer in a Kid-friendly Atmosphere<\/h2>\n

Oktoberfest features a variety of beer, including\u00a0WARSTEINER<\/a> beer from Germany, and some local craft brews.\u00a0These are the ones we tried:<\/p>\n

Warsteiner – Oktoberfest, Special Edition<\/a><\/p>\n

Konig Ludwig Hefeweisen<\/a><\/p>\n

Warsteiner – Dunkel<\/a><\/p>\n

Warsteiner – Winter, Special Edition<\/a><\/p>\n

My favorite is probably the Konig Ludwig Hefeweisen, but the Warsteiner Oktoberfest came in a close second. The other two were good too, as I enjoy most German beers. They served food there too, but\u00a0we just got a bavarian pretzel.<\/p>\n

Bounce House Fun<\/h2>\n

There was a small bounce house in the Village section of Alpine Village, and larger one (with an obstacle course and a slide) inside the tent. I wasn’t sure my tiny three-year old could handle the larger bounce house, with so many larger kids inside, but she held her own!<\/p>\n

Oom Pah Band<\/h2>\n

The Oom Pah Band Die Aalbachtaler, and hosts\u00a0Festmeister Hans & Gretel, were\u00a0very entertaining. They played\u00a0songs, led dances, and even performed on the tables in the audience!<\/p>\n

Disney Princesses<\/h2>\n

There were three Disney Princesses to entertain the crowd: Snow White, Belle, and Sleeping Beauty. My daughter loved them and wanted to follow them around most of the time. She was thrilled when Snow White danced with her on stage<\/strong><\/a> during one of the host-led dance lessons.<\/p>\n

Face Painting and Balloon Animals<\/h2>\n

The line was too long for face painting, so we didn’t do that. We did get a balloon animal (two, actually, \u00a0because the first one popped) for free, and that was pretty cool.<\/p>\n

We’ll be back at Oktoberfest next year, but sooner to check out more of Alpine Village<\/h2>\n

Overall, we had a fun first time at Alpine Village’s Sunday Family Day Oktoberfest event. The only thing I didn’t like was the restroom situation, which was port-a-potties. Outside the tent, and inside the Village, there is a regular public restroom. There, the women’s restroom had two toilets, but only one had a stall, which I found odd.<\/p>\n

I’m glad we went to Oktoberfest, so we know what to expect next year! Alpine Village is a fun, unique experience, and a great way to celebrate Autumn in L.A.!<\/p>\n
