He attended\u00a0a special media screening of the IMAX film DREAM BIG<\/strong><\/a>, which opens to the public Friday, February 17th, 2016 at The California Science Center<\/strong><\/a> (and select theaters nationwide<\/a>). Jake wants to be an engineer when he gets older, and after seeing the film, his younger\u00a0sister wants to be one too!<\/em><\/p>\n Recently, my family and I went to the California Science Center<\/strong><\/a> to see the new IMAX film, \u201cDream Big<\/strong><\/a>.\u201d The documentary was extremely inspiring, portraying civil engineers and how their innovations advance the world. For those who don\u2019t know, civil engineers design city structures such as bridges or buildings. My favorite profile was about Avery Bang<\/strong><\/a>, who turned down a high-paying job to help build bridges in underdeveloped countries. The movie depicted her building a bridge across a river which has killed 50 people trying to get across in the last decade. Some of the kids waded through the river to get to and from school right where their mother had drowned. I thought\u00a0Avery Bang<\/strong><\/a> made an empowering, selfless choice that helped people in less fortunate circumstances and gave them access to a better life.<\/p>\n A dream I have for myself in the future is being a software engineer and coding machines that can drive everyone forward, just like billionaire Bill Gates<\/strong><\/a> and both co-creators of Apple<\/strong><\/a>, Steve Jobs<\/strong><\/a> and Steve Wozniak<\/strong><\/a>. The movie has definitely moved me to pursue and reach for my dream.
