I asked\u00a0<\/i>my fashion-educated, stylish friend and fellow mommy\u00a0Maria Aldana<\/strong>\u00a0to be a guest contributor for this series of questions to revamp my wardrobe. “I’ve always been into fashion at a young age, but took a strong interest when I was in London for my undergraduate degree in 2002. Two years ago, I left the corporate world and decided to go back to school. I attended Parsons in NYC and studied fashion design. Less than a week after I moved to NY, I was literally thrown into the fashion world. I worked backstage at the Cynthia Rowley runway show and along side with her and her design team. \u00a0I learned my way around NYC and the subway system very quickly running fashion errands around the city. I also worked for the fabric team at Vera Wang and took a strong interest in learning about various textiles and prints. \u00a0Last year, I got married and moved back to Seattle where my son was born. He’s now 8 months old and I’m enjoying the joys of being a new mom. I still keep current with the fashion world through social media and the web. I’m currently working on an organic baby line. I’m designing my own fabric and prints right now, which is really exciting.”<\/h6>\n

Q.\u00a0What’s YOUR favorite trend right now?<\/h3>\n

Maria Answers:<\/h3>\n

For Spring, the shirt dress<\/a>; I’ve always loved the shirt dress, it’s easy to wear for any occasion. I noticed the cropped shirt\/sweater<\/a> trend is back, but as a new mommy, a great alternative I find more suitable for myself is the hi-low top<\/a>. I spent most of my life growing up in Seattle during the 90’s, so I will always love the grunge era and the classic plaid flannel shirt<\/a>. It can be worn in so many ways. I love pastels for this Spring, especially for shoes.<\/p>\n

Q.\u00a0What are some of your favorite fashion sites\/blogs?<\/h3>\n

Maria Answers:<\/h3>\n
I have so many! I go through phases where I will check the same fashion blog daily, stop for a while and then go back to it again for some fashion inspiration. I prefer fashion blogs over fashion sites, they are more personal and organic.<\/div>\n
