Last night, recent Pacific Lutheran University (PLU)<\/a> graduate Kimberly Nolasco<\/strong><\/a> attended the red carpet and L.A. Film Festival opening night and world premiere of Focus Features’\u00a0The Book of Henry<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0at ArcLight Culver City for Westside Mommy.\u00a0<\/em>To see more information about the movie click here<\/strong><\/a> for my previous post about the movie. Below is Kimberly’s review.<\/p>\n

Review by Kimberly Nolasco<\/h3>\n

“The Book of Henry” is about Susan, a single mom of two, who grapples with the idea of being a parent when she relies on her genius 11-year old son Henry, for financial and investment advice. The overall mis-en-sc\u00e8ne evoked the sense that as a parent it is hard to say no to your children. Sometimes you want to trust your children with everything you have, and you want to listen to make sure they have everything and get what they want, but sometimes you have to recall that in the end you are the parent and you call the shots. Her indecisiveness as a parent eventually unfolds in the movie to her realizing she can say no to her kids, something that all moms alike can relate to. Like Gregg Hurwitz, the writer of the movie, says, \u201cit\u2019s a love song to single moms\u201d. It is a very innovative movie, almost realistic, and very different from the masses seen now-a-days. Its originality is what makes it a spectacular must see move.\u201d<\/p>\n
