Kogi opens at Whole Foods Market Plaza El Segundo

I remember eating at the Kogi truck for the first time WAY back in 2005, when you could count the number of food trucks on the road on one hand. I am just as floored by the intensity of the flavors today as I was then. Now, we don’t have to chase the trucks (although it’s still a great option) to find the same great flavor Roy Choi, creator and owner of Kogi (and it’s various iterations) is known for. His latest venture opened Wednesday, November 9th at Whole Foods Market Plaza El Segundo. Kogi Taqueria is the perfect compliment to the store’s major remodel.

This is the first Kogi Taqueria within a Whole Foods Market store and Kogi’s first South Bay location. Kogi is the second Roy Choi venue within a Whole Foods Market store, Chego opened last year in the company’s downtown Los Angeles location.

At the grand opening, Roy Choi and community members broke a six foot loaf of bread to commemorate the partnership and grand re-opening of South Bay’s new and improved store.

You can easily find Kogi within the prepared foods section. Just look up and you will see the huge logo and signature sticker design at the station.

It offers a full menu of its famed tacos, burritos and favorites like the Short Rib Tacos, Blackjack Quesadillas and Blue Moon Mulitas seven days a week. All menu items are made on site and meet Whole Foods Market’s strict quality standards.

My daughter and I had a wonderful time at the grand opening. There were free samples from various food vendors offered throughout the store. We ate truffles at a sample station for dessert. There are new offerings in almost every department. Designed for streamlined, efficient shopping, and excellent dining options, Whole Foods Market Plaza El Segundo isn’t just for grocery shopping. It’s also a great destination to grab a quick bite or meet up with friends. Located near Los Angeles International Airport, Kogi is likely to be a popular stop for food before or after a flight.
