Abbot Kinney Festival – Kidsquad Fun

It’s been a rough week (more on that in another post), so it was nice to have some fun today. We went to the Abbot Kinney Festival bright and early (early enough to get a kick-ass parking spot!) to join our friend Annmarie and her family, and a bunch of other families for the Kidsquad parade. It started at 9:45am, and kicked-off the Abbot Kinney Festival. Led by incredibly talented and fun-to-dance-to musicians, Samba Da Mudanca and Sandra Sandia, we walked and danced with a tambourine from California Avenue to Westminster Avenue on Abbot Kinney Boulevard.

Before we went to the Kidsquad (mostly fenced-in) area, we stopped at the Blue Bottle Coffee Shop. The first time I had this coffee was at the Ferry Building in San Francisco. It remained one of my favorite coffees ever since.

The Kidsquad area was a lot of fun. Aria enjoyed the water play area, which had a variety of kid-powered water pumps over buckets by Pump and Splash.

After that, it was time to head home for lunch and nap. I feel like I got my arm workout today because I didn’t bring the stroller and carried Aria 70% of the time. Good thing she’s light!

We had a lot of fun at the festival today, and look forward to returning next year!
