Disney on Ice: Dare to Dream

Last night, we attended opening night of Disney on Ice: Dare to Dream at the Staples center in Los Angeles.

I haven’t been to a Disney on Ice show since I was a kid…so long ago I don’t even remember how old I was. But from what I can recall, so much has changed since then, mainly the production value. All the skaters were amazing and the choreography was spectacular.

The show ran for a little longer than two hours,  with a 15 minute intermission in between.

The Opening Act

We were treated to a few songs from the movie COCO. I loved the colorful clothing and Dia De Los Muertos masks adorning the background skaters. It was a great, energetic way to kick off the show.

The First Half

Classic fairytales were featured as well as the original Mickey Mouse crew, consisting of: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. I mean, whats a Disney show without these guys?

Next, we saw popular musical numbers and scenes from Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, and Tangled. The pumpkin carriage from Cinderella was beautiful, the choreography from Tangled was excellent, and the transformation of the Beast was really cool.  I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t moved by the touching endings of these stories I know all too well.

The Second Half

This was the newest part of the show, and my daughter’s favorite.  It opened with FROZEN, and I’m pretty sure my daughter every other child in the arena sang every word to each song. Olaf even performed his song about summer,  that I think was one of my personal favorites.

When Moana came on, my daughter and her friend stood up and danced. There was even a “sailing” boat which was a character itself. The party like atmosphere was a great way to end the show.

We got home around 10pm, which was WAY past ny daughter’s bed time, especially on a school night, but during the holidays I don’t mind making the exception. After all, she had a blast and now has fantastic memory she will associate with the holidays.  As a mom, that’s all I could ask for.
