New Kid-friendly Burger Joint in Hollywood – Hollywood Burger

In the past, there were very few food and drink options around the Hollywood Pantages theatre. I remember watching the musical CATS twelve years ago, paying over $10 for a drink at the bar next door and buying overpriced pretzels or chips at the concession stand. Over the years, more dining options popped up, but it wasn’t until recently, with the opening of Hollywood Burger, was there an affordable kid-friendly restaurant on this side of Hollywood Boulevard.

Last Saturday, my family and I dined at Hollywood Burger.

Conveniently Located

Hollywood Burger is located on the south side of Hollywood Boulevard, across from the Pantages Theatre, between Vine Street and Argyle Street. It is steps away from the Hollywood and Vine Metro station and on the same block as The W Hotel Hollywood. It’s also the perfect stop before a shopping trip to Trader Joes, which isn’t a bad idea, since they validate parking for up to one hour. I like to take Lyft or Uber anytime I have to go to Hollywood, but when traveling with my kid, I prefer to drive.

Affordable and Kid-friendly

There aren’t many casual dining, kid-friendly spots in Hollywood, so Hollywood Burger is the perfect destination when your kids are in tow. They have a kid portion section of the menu called the “Young Hollywood Menu.” It has the same items from the regular menu, but on a smaller scale at a lower price. I usually share food with my kid, but now that she’s older she likes to have her own meal.

Hollywood Burger provides crayons and coloring pads for kids, which is always a plus in my book!

Customize your meal

One of the things I like the best about the menu items at Hollywood Burger are the options! I built a salad with my favorite additions – Applewood smoked bacon, avocado, crispy onions, and crispy chicken. I know at that point it is no longer “healthy,” but knowing there are greens under there makes me feel a little better!

My husband doesn’t like to make decisions, so he went with one of their specialty burgers – The HB HOT & SPICY. After trying his burger, I kind of wish I ordered a burger myself because it was DAMN GOOD. Don’t get me wrong, the salad was good, but there is a reason why the restaurant is named HOLLYWOOD BURGER.

Specialty burgers include:

  • Hollywood Classic Burger: Red onion, tomato, lettuce & Hollywood Secret Sauce
  • The VIP Bacon Cheeseburger: Applewood smoked bacon, American cheese, red onion, tomato, lettuce & Hollywood Secret Sauce
  • HB Hot & Spicy: Pepper jack, jalapeño, red onion, tomato, lettuce & Chipotle-Honey sauce
  • Blockbuster BBQ: Cheddar, spicy slaw, crispy onions & BBQ sauce
  • The Star Veggie: Choice of garden burger or spicy black bean burger, cheddar, avocado, red onion, tomato, lettuce & Hollywood Secret Sauce

You can customize the burgers even further with toppings, or additional patties

Don’t forget the SIDES

We couldn’t decide on which side to get, so we almost got all four options. We went with the regular fries topped with chili and cheese, onion rings, and tater tots. We did not get the sweet potato fries but now I kind of wish we did.

I’m a big fan of TOTS, and often buy them from the grocery store to cook at home, but there is something about the way they make them at Hollywood Burger that makes them taste amazing. We ordered our tots with cheese on the side. tip: By making your cheese a dip, the tots stay crispy! My kid loved the onion rings, which I thought were good too. But honestly, I was just glad she kept her hands off the tater tots (more for me!).

Did someone say BEER?

Not only do they have beer, but they also have frozen margaritas! You know a place is pretty cool when you can order a beer for yourself and a milkshake for your kid. There were several choices of beer on tap, and they serve by the pint. The beer prices are already affordable, but during Happy Hour, it’s a steal!

I was very satisfied with my visit to Hollywood Burger. It is a solid restaurant with All-American food fare with an array of choices to please every member of your family.
