Weekend Highlight: A Delicious Dinner Party

Last month, our friends Bucky and Gabby made plans with us and two other couples for a dinner party at their house.  This allowed us enough time to arrange for my aunt to watch the baby, and for us to plan what we should bring.  Everyone invited is a foodie and loves to cook, so it was a given that we should bring something gourmet and homemade if possible.  The hosts provided cocktails, wine, and the main course.  Another couple (Adam and Christie and Adam) brought some wine and appetizers for cocktail hour.  Scott and Kristy brought an amazing first course and beautiful centerpiece.  We were assigned dessert.  I love ice cream and thought about being lazy and just bringing a few pints from my favorite ice cream shops, Scoops Westside and/or Saffron and Rose Ice Cream.  Instead, I decided (for myself and for my husband) to be ambitious and make our own.  We had never made ice cream before, but I think it turned out great.  (Post about the process coming soon).  Here are some photos and descriptions of our enjoyable meal:

We closed the night with tears of laughter playing Cards Against Humanity.  It was such a wonderful evening, and a nice break from the normal routine.  I look forward to these and can’t wait until the next one!  Ice cream making post coming soon!
